The dearth of high quality Caribbean centered audiovisual programmes and productions is being tackled head on by Silhouette. St. Lucians and Caribbean people are now eager to see themselves in the media. They want to be in the commercials, documentaries and narrative films that are being viewed in the region. Caribbean people in the diaspora are especially thirsty for such products to connect them to their countries of origin.
Silhouette’s solution to this problem is to create high quality, Caribbean-centered audiovisual material that is both entertaining and informative to this large Caribbean community that has been mostly ignored for a long time.

D. Kendal John
Darnel Kendal John is a television producer and filmmaker who has worked in the industry for over 15 years, 12 of those years at Helen Television System (HTS), where he finally held the post of Production Manager before going on his own in 2011. Holding a Double Major BA degree (First Class Honours) in Film Production and Television & Radio production which he obtained from Brooklyn College, New York, he has been in the forefront of innovative video productions in St. Lucia. His work includes the BET nominated Boo Hinkson music video King of My Jungle, the popular decor show Design Style with Johanna Salton which aired in St. Lucia and in the Tri-State area in the United States, and co-production of St. Lucia’s first narrative series Island Secrets.
In 2013 Kendal released his first environmental documentary on television and on-line, Invasive Alien Species – Confronting the Threat, which has been utilized in workshops by the OECS Commission in dealing with this challenging phenomenon. He recently produced the very insightful and well received heritage documentary “Who Are You?” which was funded in part by the St. Lucia National Commission of UNESCO. He is currently the president of the Audio Visual and Film Association (AVFA) in St. Lucia.
While Kendal is known for film, TV commercials and TV programmes he wholeheartedly embraces other means of artistic expression such as calypso, fine art and poetry.
